The Souplements story begins in the winter of 2002, when our founder, Emily Chan, started making soup for her own dog.  One of Emily’s rescue dogs, a shepherd mix named Miles, suffered from food allergies as a puppy.  His allergies caused repeated vomiting which led to dehydration and loss of appetite.  When he became severely dehydrated, Miles required intravenous fluids and overnight hospital stays.

A family friend, Jim Murray, M.D. of Santa Barbara, California, recommended homemade chicken soup for Miles.  Emily followed Doc’s advice and found that the soup helped Miles with his dehydration.  The chicken soup also stimulated Miles’ appetite and got some nutrients into his system.  Miles slowly regained his energy and spirit.

Over the years, Emily has created a collection of soup recipes that are low in fat, low in calories and lift her dogs’ spirits.
