what is a meal supplement?

dogpeople considers Souplements a “meal supplement,” intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only.  Souplements can be used as an occasional light meal, special meal or snack.  It can also be used as a meal enhancer, added to dry dog food.

how much should I feed my dog?

dogpeople recommends that Souplements should not exceed 25% of your dog’s regular diet (i.e., total caloric intake) on a weekly basis.  Souplements should replace a portion of your dog’s current diet, unless your dog has a higher energy requirement.  Amount may vary based on your dog’s age, size or level of activity.

will soup cause my dog to have loose or runny stools?

No.  The liquid consistency of soup will not cause your dog to produce runny stools.  Souplements is easy-to-digest and should produce normal stools.  However, some dogs may be sensitive to variety added to their diet.  Therefore, dogpeople suggests adding only a very small portion of Souplements to your dog’s diet initially and increasing the amount gradually in subsequent meals.

what is the shelf-life of Souplements products?

Souplements is packaged in a convenient, airtight pouch that seals in natural flavors and nutrients.  Like natural canned dog food, our products are shelf-stable and have a shelf life of up to 12 months.  Once opened, any leftovers should be refrigerated or discarded.

how should I store Souplements leftovers?

dogpeople suggests transferring leftovers into an airtight container before refrigerating.  Stored in this way, Souplements should be good for additional 1-2 days.  Currently, we are in the process of researching reclosable pouches for Souplements products.  In the meantime, dogpeople promotes the use of re-usable containers.

can Souplements products be heated in a microwave?

Yes.  Souplements is packaged in a microwaveable plastic pouch.  Open pouch by tearing the notch 1” to vent.  Place pouch upright in microwave and heat on Medium (50%) power for 15-30 seconds or until warm.  Stir to even out temperature.  Test temperature before serving.  Caution: Handle warm pouch with care.  Ovens may vary.  Heating time is approximate.
