do Souplements products need to be heated?

Souplements is ready-to-serve and requires no cooking.  Serve as-is or warm.  If your dog is a finicky eater or suffering from loss of appetite, dogpeople recommends serving Souplements warm.  When served warm, the natural aroma of the Souplements broth can encourage dogs to eat.

can humans eat Souplements products?

Souplements is not intended for human consumption.  However, dogpeople does produce its products using the same standards as natural food products that are intended for human consumption.  Souplements is made with only USDA inspected, high quality ingredients.  Our products are made in a USDA-certified human food facility with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HAACP) systems in place to ensure food safety.  And, we perform third-party FDA testing on our products to establish proper retort processing procedures for sterilization (i.e., for shelf stability).

why is Souplements packaging so large?

We realize that our pouch holds more product (in ounces) than a traditional can of natural dog food.  For a small dog or single dog household, that means each package may contain several servings to be used over the course of a couple days.  Since dogpeople is committed to environmental sustainability, we consciously decided against smaller, single-serving sized pouches in an effort to minimize use of packaging materials.  Currently we are in the process of researching reclosable pouches for Souplements products.  In the meantime, dogpeople promotes the use of re-usable containers for storage of leftovers.

can I recycle Souplements packaging?

Souplements pouches are accepted for Plastic recycling under the designation of "7 Other," which is the same classification as Campbell’s and Progresso’s plastic microwaveable soup bowls.  This "7 Other" designation indicates that the package can be recycled, though most recycling centers are not capable of accepting this form of plastic container for recycling.  While no package today is fully sustainable, dogpeople has selected a type of packaging that is considered more sustainable than a traditional metal can with a smaller "footprint" when discarded.
